WHAT IS BARNACIDE®?
BARNACIDE® is a sustainable solution designed to prolong the lifetime of your marine and freshwater exposed surfaces by protecting them against biofouling.
HOW DOES BIOFOULING OCCUR?
Once a surface is submerged in water...
• Bacteria, fungi, and algae attach to form a slime – within 24 hours.
• Algae plants attach and form a layer – within one week – a cosmetic problem.
• Barnacles, Shipworms (Marine Borers) and Invasive Mussels – within 3 weeks –
corrosion of surfaces, friction, and increased fuel consumption.
• Sea Grapes (Tunicates) – within 4 to 8 weeks – huge masses may sink buoys, cause severe drag.
WHAT IS BIOFOULING?
Biofouling is the invasion of water submerged surfaces by plant and animal invaders that corrode, destroy, and deteriorate surfaces, leading to expensive maintenance. Due to biofouling, structures moving through water develop increased friction, causing increased fuel consumption, fuel expenses, and CO2 pollution.

BARNACIDE® is the first environmentally safe, sufficiently effective means to prevent biofouling to a satisfactory degree. Our patented technology provides an outer layer to repel and prevent biofouling, and an inner layer to eliminate any organism that can penetrate the outer layer.
BARNACIDE® is active against all forms of biofouling, and protects nearly any structure for a minimum of 5 years. The two layers of polymers, each with different biologically active chemical agents, together produce a technology that is extremely effective in eliminating cosmetic, biological, chemical, corrosive, and mechanical damage to the submerged surfaces mentioned above.
